Ethics & Values in New Zealand

Why bother being good?
Why should I share my money?
Who are we and what do we stand for as a people?

These are kind of challenging questions that lie at the heart of my social documentaries and here is where you will find some intriguing answers.

Ethics & Values Features

Last December I interviewed Adrian Whale who runs Te Tai Tokarau Emergency Housing Trust. As Aucklanders cash up their properties take the profits and move North, houses prices in Whangarei are rising.

Forming an Offshore Trust is not illegal but they can (and are) used for illegal purposes such as money laundering and tax evasion.

When social beneficiaries steal from us we call it fraud and we put the them in jail.

When corporate beneficiaries steal from us we turn a blind eye to their dishonesty and we open our nation's doors to them.

Would you sign up to buy a house without knowing the price?

Yet  that's what we are being asked to do in the flag referendum.

No one knows how many more millions we would have to spend if we voted to change our flag .

A friend of mine has a simple empathy test. When you walk through the door of a building do you look behind you to see if anyone is following and hold the door open for them?

On a number of occasions over the last couple of years I've noticed that some  people who have disagreed with something I have written or said have complained that I am " not objective" and sometimes "that I am just a Leftist" .

"New Zealand Prime Minister , John Key , has been accused of making light of rape after participating in a radio stunt referring to sexual assault in prison" - The Guardian Dec 17th 2015. (Yes, it's gone international).

One of John Key's claims is that he has sometimes found himself standing in front of the Australian flag at an official function hence it was one of his reasons for wanting to change it . Mmmm... What if the Red Peak Flag is chosen?

If you want to keep our current flag , as I do, here are my thoughts.

THE PROCESS

Some very good advice from AJ+

It's interesting to note  the Crown are going to argue a later time of death for Christine and Amber Lundy in Mark Lundy's retrial.

Social Capital - what is it? Here's an example. We know there is no more important job you will ever do in life than look after your kids.
