In this documentary I tackle our multi- headed housing crisis problem.
I take a historical approach to explain why it is that ordinary hard working Kiwis are unable to save for home of their own and how we could fix that situation. I also investigate the effect vast amounts of foreign money coming into our country has been having on our home real estate market
It seemed to me then, as still does, that our obsession with home ownership as the only way to give New Zealand families stability of tenure is something we need to address.
I was also determined to show that there are many ways we could provide warm dry afforable housing for everyone if we change the question from “How can everyone afford to own a home ?” To ” How can we give everyone security of tenure?”
Change the question and a host of exciting ways to solve our housing crisis could emerge.
